2023 has been a busy year for trail maintenance

The 2023 weather has caused many trees to fall and block trails, also the good growing conditions have encouraged the undergrowth to spread onto trails in many places, sometimes with a lot of poison ivy.

Volunteers have cleared worked with chainsaws, reciprocating saws, loppers, weed whackers, snips and plain old pulling up plants to keep the paths clear. Keyes Farm in particular was badly overgrown, but also the path at Vinger Venable was almost impassible. Other places where trees were cleared included Vaughn Hills, Powder House Hill, The Old Town House Road, Houghton Farm, Annie Moore, Zink Norrthwoods, Gould-White and Rattlesnake. In fact, it’s harder to think of an area that did not require maintenance.

Individuals like Drew Schaubhut, Larry Kunz, Winslow Green, Ketan Parekh, Keith Silver, Greg Matte, Betsy Taylor-Kennedy and Gordon Taylor gave up much of their free time to ensure that the trails stay open.
