Four more bridges and a connector completed
October 8, 2024
The Bridge Project has continued apace. The team of Chris DeMers, Larry Kunz, Keith Silver, Drew Schaubhut and Gordon Taylor, assisted by Henry Jacobsen, built or replaced four more mixed use bridges and crossings at the Moen area of Vaughn Hills. This brings the total of completed structures to five.
Two bridges, located very close to each other, were linked by a wooden structure to ease the connection. Stone ramps with rock supports were installed by a third party contractor. A pea stone surface over landscape cloth was installed over the wooden span. Two bridges were sufficiently high above the surface to require handrails
These bridges are suitable for many types of trail users including equestrians (and dogs!).
The project will continue. Three more bridges are planned; two more at the Moen area and one at the Annie Moore Conservation land. These crossings will use a different technique because of the terrain and the nature of the crossings.
