New Year’s Day Hike at the Florence Sawyer Area Trails

The Bolton Conservation Trust and Bolton Trails Committee hosted a New Year’s Day hike to kick off 2024. There were about 40 total people enjoying the sunny 38F day. The walk started at the lacrosse field on Main St, walking through the forest along the railroad bed, continuing through new trails (as of 2023) all the way to Berlin Rd. After stopping to look at the winery construction of their wine cellar from the Berlin Rd trailhead, the group turned around and headed back through the school grounds, Derby Field, and Horse Ring Field areas back to the lacrosse fields (~3 mile route). Neighborly spirit was in a full swing, with several individuals helping to guide and lend a hand to the more-unsteady hikers through some of the tricky parts of the trail.

This lesser-known area surrounding the Florence Sawyer School still needs a little more work before publishing a full map in our guidebook and on the website. Let us know if you want to lend a hand with some of the trail work by emailing us at info@boltontrails.org or sign up for our volunteers email list.
